Network Engineer II - Design and Implementation
Job Summary:
About the Role & Team
At Disney, we’re storytellers! We make the impossible, possible. The Walt Disney Company is a world-class entertainment and technological leader. Walt’s passion was to continuously envision new ways to move audiences around the world—a passion that remains our touchstone in an enterprise that stretches from theme parks, resorts and a cruise line to sports, news, movies and a variety of other businesses. Uniting each endeavor is a commitment to creating and delivering unforgettable experiences — and we are constantly looking for new ways to enhance these exciting experiences.
The Enterprise Technology mission is to deliver technology solutions that align to business strategies while enabling enterprise efficiency and promoting cross-company collaborative innovation. Our group drives competitive advantage by enhancing our consumer experiences, enabling business growth, and advancing operational excellence.
The Business Network Design Services (“BNDS”) is a network team within Enterprise Technology that designs and implements network infrastructure to directly support business units including LAN, MAN, WAN, internet, Wi-Fi, and voice network services. BNDS engineers collaborate closely with other technical teams to provide the network services, including the strategy/architecture team, network operations, global information security, wireless and cloud teams, among others. This is an opportunity to build networks for Disney’s world-class business units including filmed & TV production, media & broadcast, and content distribution. We are seeking a dynamic individual who is a problem solver, creative, has a strong sense of ownership and initiative, collaborates and communicates effectively, and is interested in continually learning new networking technologies.
What You Will Bring:
- Technical experience in a large, complex enterprise (e.g., at least 30+ sites in multiple countries, at least 10-15k users but preferably 50k+ users).
- Ability to architect world-class, large-scale data networks for global enterprises that maximize security, performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborative approach to working with business units to rapidly develop and implement solutions.
- Ability to build and supporting enterprise LANs, MANs, WANs, VPNs, and remote access solutions in a variety of topologies.

This requires relationship building, planning, customer service, and critical thinking skills. Candidate will collaborate closely with senior engineers and leadership to serve as an interface between Enterprise Tech and the Business Units.
- Analysis & Proposals: Arrange information effectively into solutions alternatives and present them to Sr./Lead BNDS network resources in preparation for Business Unit review & acceptance. This requires accounting for multiple aspects of design solutions including technical, process, security, and ongoing support.
- Design: Prepare technical designs with guidance from senior resources and management leveraging Disney’s architecture & design standards—direct participation and execution of design, engineering & deployment of business unit network solutions & capabilities. Using existing BNDS standards & procedures to solve routine and standard problems. This can include a mix of document writing, network diagrams, or contribution to configuration automation. Write Scope of Work documents to guide 3rd party implementers who will conduct the hands-on configuration of network devices; prepare other documentation as necessary regarding the infrastructure to be deployed.
- Implementation: Utilizing BNDS standards, prepare documentation to execute on the design plans; assist in the oversight of 3rd party resources to deliver on-time, on-budget implementation of the solution, including risk management; manage escalation to BNDS leadership for action if/when needed.
- New Technology Evaluation: On occasion, work with BNDS peer and senior networking resources to assist the architecture team to evaluate innovative technology solutions; provide practical and Business Unit-oriented perspective to the selection of innovative technology and adoption of processes.
- Behaviorally, the Network Engineer: Understands and can practically apply the concepts of infrastructure service delivery, and service roadmaps; seeks to understand customer perspective and informs leadership; seeks to understand Disney Enterprise Tech methodologies and process; is self-organized, self-aware; able to work in a collaborative team environment.
- What this position is not: Operations: this is not an operations position; there are few if any duties related to operating the network or performing break-fix activities beyond consulting on the intended design.
