Sr. Hulu Strategic Operations Analyst
Job Summary:
Hulu is an integral part of Disney’s Direct to Consumer (DTC) organization, leading premium streaming service offerings for live and on-demand TV and movies. Operating at the intersection of entertainment and technology and housed within the Disney Entertainment segment, Hulu is helping to bring The Walt Disney Company’s best-in-class storytelling to fans and families everywhere.
The Hulu Strategic Planning and Business Operations team is a highly dynamic group focused on tracking, evaluating, and driving strategic business decisions as well as ensuring implementation and smooth operations through coordination with our business partners across the organization. Working very tightly with the Hulu General Manager and in lockstep with Hulu content teams we aggregate and elevate perspectives on high-priority strategic considerations, scope and execute analyses to inform goal setting, and work cross-functionally across a wide range of partner teams such as Marketing, Product, Finance, Strategy, and Ad Sales to design and optimize workflows with an eye on Hulu-specific needs.
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Analyst who will be an exceptional addition to our growing team. The role is focused on synthesizing data and insights across business partners to solve key business problems, craft the Hulu business narrative, track against the annual operating plan, and inform decisions by DTC leadership. The role requires strong attention to detail, a sense of accountability, high EQ, collaboration skills, and stakeholder management. The ideal candidate will have a background in management consulting, investment banking, or experience working in a strategy or business planning role within the media & entertainment or direct-to-consumer industry, loves to solve problems, and is intellectually curious.
What You Will Do
- Strategic Insights and Financial Analysis:
- Track and analyze business performance in collaboration with finance, analytics, and research teams to aid goal setting and evaluation of growth opportunities
- Create and maintain databases and reports that provide visibility into key performance indicators (KPIs), enabling data-driven decision-making for leadership
- Develop and maintain detailed financial models that utilize user data and forecasts to inform strategic decisions and optimize performance across the Hulu portfolio
- Develop and analyze various business scenarios to inform strategic choices and risk assessments, ensuring preparedness for potential market fluctuations
- Structure complex and ambiguous operational / business issues and develop compelling, insightful recommendations
●Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work effectively in a team environment, coordinating Hulu business needs
cross-functionally with key partners incl. e.g. Marketing, Content, Product, and Ad Sales
- Collaborate with DTC and partner business units to build consensus and mobilize efforts toward successful execution of strategic initiatives
- Collaborate with finance and DTC strategy teams to develop long-range and annual budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and tracking performance against financial goals
- Foster relationships with key stakeholders to gather insights and drive alignment on strategic priorities and initiatives
- Craft presentation materials, such as memos and decks, leveraging storytelling skills to effectively communicate insights and recommendations to stakeholders
●Project and Process Management:
- Track and help manage strategic initiatives involving key partners, ensuring alignment and execution against strategic goals
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within the strategic planning framework, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in execution
- Assist in developing guidelines and playbooks for strategic workflows across the streaming value chain, ensuring alignment with Hulu-specific needs within the DTC ecosystem
- Support the execution and ongoing management of developed processes in partnership with operational teams, including Strategic, Business, and Content Operations
Required Qualifications & Skills
- BA/BS Degree
- 3+ years of experience
- Strong analytical and technical skills (e.g., financial modeling)
- High standards for work quality, attention to detail, and accuracy
- Ability to be solution-oriented: troubleshoot issues, analyze the cause, quickly come-up with the possible solution(s), document the changes, and communicate the change to the organization
- Ability to think strategically, analyze and interpret market and consumer information
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills including the ability to synthesize and communicate highly complex and technical information
- Demonstrated success in delivering results in a cross-functional or matrixed team setting
- Innate emotional intelligence with a proven ability to perceive needs, issues, and preferences of others
- Strong initiative and a willingness get things done with urgency and accuracy
- A self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team with limited day-to-day guidance
- Ability to manage multiple requests, stay organized, and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in GSuite and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in the streaming media industry or knowledge of data and Video on Demand (VOD) and subscription-based services (SVOD) is preferred
- A demonstrated interest in the media, digital and/or tech industries
- Experience compiling and presenting detailed analysis to an executive audience is preferred
The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles, CA is $103,500.00-$138,800.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
